“I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama where I learned from my elders to cook from the heart. Impoverished, my mother, Mary Anna as well as other members of the community taught their children to rely on the natural resources of the land. In my own childhood backyard, I watched mama cultivate her own fruits and vegetables and raise poultry to feed her family with LOVE. Another poignant memory from my childhood that helped ignite my passion for cooking and serving was from the lunches I would get at my elementary school in Birmingham. At that time, the lunch ladies at school made all of the meals for the children from scratch with LOVE and you could taste it in every bite. The peach cobbler and macaroni and cheese were the standouts and I can remember the tastes all these years later. I still carry these rich experiences and traditions with me today and passed them down to my son Sean who shares the same hospitable spirit as me. In fact, it was he ( a self proclaimed Mac n Cheese snob) who over a years time perfected our Champ’s Uncle Mac and Cheese recipe which has become one of our most popular menu items. Together we hope to make you apart of our tradition by serving you our LOVE, heart, and soul food.
